Crowns

An overview of crowns

Dental Crowns

Crowns are dental restorations that cover up the part of your natural tooth that is visible in your mouth.  You can think of a crown like a helmet that goes over your tooth.

We use crowns to help rebuild teeth that have been broken down due to wear or tooth decay.  Crowns can also help protect teeth and keep them from cracking and breaking.

At the first visit, we will prepare your tooth to receive a crown and take an impression that we send to the lab so they can make a custom-fit crown for your tooth.  We use a color guide to make sure that we get the crown to match the color of your natural teeth as close as possible.  At the second visit, we will try in your crown and verify the fit of it.  Then we will permanently cement it to your tooth.
